MODA IN, MILANO UNICA trade fairs

Milan, February 11, 12, 13, 2014

As usual, the Milan fair brought together MODA IN, SHIRT AVENUE and IDEABIELLA.
MODA IN was in 3 halls this time instead of 4 as in past seasons, a definitely smaller fair but less morose, more active and dynamic !

The FORUM

The exhibitor offer was grouped under the title ADDED VALUE with 2 major themes : HAUTE CRAFT and SMART BASIC.

HAUTE CRAFT :
• MEDITERRANEAN MOOD
A nautical mood in shirting blues, navy blue, indigo, blue denim, bleached blues … all the way to aquatic blues including turquoise that was softer this season.
Lots of blues + white and red/white/blue.
Fabrics : Cotton piqués, shirting grounds (chambrays, end-to-ends, stripes), linen shirtings, striped piqué knits.
A beach version with sporty nettings, wave motifs, mermaid sequins.
• GREEN PASSION
A garden mood revolving around tender or bright greens, greenish blues and pinks with bright green accents.
Fabrics : Allover florals prints, garden flowers, roses and poppies, orchids, line drawings, photoprints, sports, watercolored flowers … on all grounds, flowers and birds, fresh, monochromatic country checks, three-tone ginghams.
• THOSE LACES
Whites : pure, cream, greige … a ceremonial mood.
Fabrics : Embroidered organzas, floral and geometric motifs, textured embroideries on fragile grounds, white dobbies, laces, floral guipures…
• HERE TROPICS
Exotic and ethnic reds and ochres.
Fabrics : Multicolored embroideries with a handcrafted look, beaded embroideries, chunky basketweaves, loose, rustic basketweaves, snakeskins, printed, embossed leathers …
• STREET ART
Black and brights
Fabrics : Fake black leather, waxed black looks, spotty and splattered prints, iridescent effects, psychedelic, sequinned silkies, multicolored metallics, laminated knits, placed, printed faces of famous people.
SMART BASIC :
• CITY PLANNING
An urban, masculine mood in blues and grays, navy blues, black and white, red and white.
Fabrics : Lightweight suitings in wool or linen, blurry plaids in light grays, gingham shirtings, geometric motifs, simple or complex dots, traditional, mini shirting checks, mini-pleated cottons, printed tie motifs, embossed, gridded silkies, pinstriped linens, mini geometrics, foambacks with embossed geometric motifs.
• MEDITATION
A natural, precious mood in whites, greiges, mat silver, light grays + a denim and indigo mood.
Fabrics : Linen and natural fibers for the city, gauzes, basketweave cottons, silver gray laminations and powdery prints, linen jerseys, linen denims, faded indigo linen canvases, knits in a denim mood.
• DESIRE
A red and intense pink mood with fuchsias, light pinks and, on one hand mauves, nocturnal blues or deep violets and, on the other hand, black.
Fabrics : Glamorous red silkies : satins, organzas, chantilly laces, tulles … heavy satins and fluid knits in precious, powdery nude pinks, silvers and pale golds, laces and lacquered knits in femme fatale black, silkies (voiles, satins, crepons and cloqués) in midnight blue.
• FUNCTIONALITY
A sport mood in black plus acidic brights, yellows, oranges, strong blue and white.
Fabrics : Technical silkies, shiny satins, embossed satins, perforated geometric motifs, plastified nettings, spacers, knit nettings and openwork sport fabrics.
• COOLNESS
A soft, serene mood in sky blues, aquas, lemon yellows and softer oranges or fresh, fruity pinks.
Fabrics : Stiff transparencies, novelty, airy gauzes, organzas, synthetic blue and aqua voiles … fresh shirtings and naive ginghams scattered with tiny, Liberty-style florals.

• A clean or bleached denim mood, LINEN knits and wovens.
• Floral or geometric, TEXTURED EMBROIDERIES on voiles or ORGANZAS and eyelet embroideries in the same mood.

In conclusion, this was truly a season of added value with 3-D textures, rubbery hands, voluminous transparencies and novelties that were less “bling” and more futuristic or romantic.
