The end of an inspirational week in Copenhagen for Fashion Week and the two international fairs CIFF & REVOLVER.

A unique edition as the two international trade fairs, until now competitors, announced at the beginning of the year to join forces and merge by the next edition from 9 to 11 August 2023. This was also the 60th edition of CIFF, which in 30 years has become one of the most influential events in the fashion industry, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

Designers, buyers, and journalists from all over the world gathered to discover the latest trends and most innovative creations.

On this occasion, Mathilde Channelliere, Strategic Consultant, and Wendy Betton, Fashion Key Items trend book director, had the opportunity to speak 3 times, bringing food for thought for buyers and brands on impacting topics in the fashion world (and not only), such as the inclusivity and diversity.

Let’s go over an excerpt from their analysis, available in its entirety on Peclers+!

As the fashion industry continues to question its environmental impact, CIFF organizers have taken steps to encourage brands to adopt more sustainable practices. Both CIFF and REVOLVER continue to focus on sustainability and ethical fashion.

We saw a wide variety of brands, all committed to environmentally friendly practices, as well as fashion shows featuring clothing made from recycled and sustainable materials.

  1. SUSTAINABLE FOCUS

  2. DIGITAL FOCUS

  3. KEY POINTS OF THE CIFF:

  • COLORS
  • OUTDOOR EVOLUTION
  • SCANDINAVIAN FANTASY
  • RECYCLED MERCHANDISING

#1 – SUSTAINABLE FOCUS

Many fashion brands are looking to create more sustainable and environmentally friendly products, but some are going a step further by using age-old processes to produce their collections. These brands are turning to artisanal techniques, natural dyes and sustainable materials to create high quality products while minimising their environmental impact.

Mathilde & Wendy share their favorites with you!

Bjorn Hugason

Drawing on his roots and cultural heritage, Bjorn Hugason creates clothes that tell his story by combining tradition and modernity to create collections that are both timeless and eco-friendly.

An Icelandic designer, he works in his studio in Florence, Italy, and designs clothes from deadstock of linen, hemp, and silk, which are then hand-dyed with natural dyes such as tea, pomegranate, etc

#2 – DIGITAL FOCUS

Brands are also looking for innovative ways to create more environmentally friendly products. Digital technologies are now making it possible to design more sustainable products by minimizing waste and reducing their environmental impact.

In this sense, designers can create virtual prototypes, and test different materials to reduce the number of tests needed before production and also to be as accurate as possible in terms of material needs to avoid all forms of waste.

We have seen the use of new technologies in several initiatives and we share with you one of our favorites. To discover more: go to Peclers+!

KNITOLOGY

Inspired by virtual worlds, this brand mixes functional and digital. The prints are made with the help of artificial intelligence, the lookbook is worn by a virtual model, and in terms of brand identity, the logo is close to a flash code.

#3 – KEY POINTS OF THE CIFF

Winter acids:

A touch of acidity in winter with greens, to be combined with dark neutrals.

A more designer outdoor:

The outdoor spirit is becoming more feminine for women, in a more designer and recolored version.

Jacquard dress and top:

Often in jacquard or in shiny materials, the puffy dress is omnipresent on the Danish market. Wear it with sneakers or boots.

Glam fur and sequins:

A dressy side with bling materials: sequins to wear in print and recolored fur.
