From February 11 to 13, 2020, “fashion sees itself, thinks about itself and totally lives in eco-responsibility!”

To meet the challenges of fashion’s future, a group of committed players in sustainable development and Fashion Tech specialists got together in the fair’s Smart Creation  area dedicated to responsible creation and innovation.

This forum, as a concentration of solutions, illustrated a clear desire to approach technical, sustainable innovation through the prism of experimentation and creativity.

Designer Dominique Mettraux, Peclers’ material specialist, takes a look at the key trends, innovative brands and some not-to-be-missed favorites!

Key trends and materials

Practicality and responsibility also rhyme with desirability and mastered novelties … a true ode to nature and colorful motifs.

The offer is mostly sustainable in sectors that presented significant developments in recycled or bio-based fabrics, biodegradable synthetics, ecological cellulosic fibers, traceable cottons … all of which are certified. Manufacturing procedures and finishings are increasingly ecological, especially dyeing processes that reduce water consumption.

Favorite natural materials: linen, hemp and ramie are finer, more sophisticated, softer, textured or dry, treated in their original color and developed in a wide range of undyed whites that don’t pollute.
